Men's Basketball Comes To An End At The Hands Of the Chargers

Wells College men's basketball matched up with the Lancaster Bible Chargers this Friday evening in the first round of the United East Conference playoffs.

The Chargers were all over the Express from the jump. They grabbed a 15-7 lead forcing a time-out from the Express early on. Unfortunately for the Express, the Chargers would come out and go on an 11-4 run to build their lead up to 26-11. In the first half, Wells College shot exactly half as many shots as Lancaster Bible, but the shots the Express got off were going in at a 43% clip. Wells College turned the ball over fourteen times in the first half alone and was outrebounded by the Chargers 23-12, and 11-2 on the offensive glass. At the half, Wells was down 47-28. Lancaster Bible came right back out in the second half and knocked down three straight threes to go on a 9-0 run and increase their lead to twenty-eight. As the half went on the Charger lead continued to grow thanks in part to the Rebound margin and lack of offense of the Express end. The Chargers, for the second year in a row, sent the Express home in the first round of the United East Tournament, 89-59.

This ends the men's basketball season and gives them an overall record of 14-12 and 9-7 in the conference.

Thank you to our senior Ty McBride for your dedication to the program during your time at Wells!

Until next year...
