David Dames and Tim Bankston Jr. had career-best scoring nights for the Wells College men's basketball team as the Express took on Ithaca College on the road Tuesday, Dec. 6 in a non-conference game. Ithaca won 108-75.
Dames and Bankston scored 12 points each, and Vaughndell Brantley led Wells with 17 points. The Express saw a three-game winning streak snapped, and Wells stands at 4-2 on the season. Ithaca is 4-3.
The Bombers got off to a fast start and built a 30-8 lead in the opening 10 minutes. Wells played its best stretch of the game over the next several minutes and reduced the lead, with a couple of opportunities to pull within single digits but pivotal shots didn't fall. Ithaca extended its lead and 45-28 advantage at halftime.
Ithaca stretched out the lead in the second half and went on to win.
Dames finished with three blocked shots and a team-high 13 rebounds. Zach D'Arpino made three second-half 3-pointers and finished with nine points, also a career-high scoring night.
Wells closes its first-semester schedule with a home game Thursday, Dec. 8 at the Schwartz Center against RIT at 7 p.m.
