Men's Basketball Drops Second Game In a Row

Wells College men's basketball continued their non-conference schedule by hosting Cazenovia College on Tuesday night. The Wildcats would win this one 88-83 but this certainly was an exciting match-up.

Wells College jumped out to a 30-17 lead over the visiting Wildcats. Not long after that, the Cazenovia Head Coach was assessed a technical foul giving the Express two free throws and the ball. The Wildcats would come charging back, trying to cut into the lead of the Express. Just before halftime, a double technical foul was assessed to Jarek Feliz along with the bench of the visiting Wildcats. These would offset with no free throws attempted and we would head into halftime with the Express holding onto a lead of 46-38.

Unfortunately for the Wildcats, it took only 2 minutes into the second half for their head coach Justin Stern to earn a second technical along with an ejection. At the same time, a technical foul was given to Ransel Rodriguez of the Express. Less than a minute of game time later, Terrance Clayton-Murphy would also earn a technical, and just like that, 3 starters for the Express were out for the rest of the game.

With three of their starters out, the Express began to struggle on both ends of the floor. Billy McCrae and Marcus Buckridge would do their best to help carry the load on the offensive end for the Express in the second half. They combined for 25 of the 37 second-half points for Wells College. As time began to wind down, the Wildcat's offense picked up and the Express were not able to match baskets and found themselves losing the lead for the first time in the game with 13 minutes left to play. The Express would leave 10 points at the foul line going 20-30 in the game and would ultimately drop this one at home in dramatic fashion, 88-83.

Men's Basketball will be back in action this Friday at Pitt Bradford.
