The Wells College women's basketball team opened its 2017-18 season with a 72-32 loss to Nazareth College on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the Schwartz Athletic Center. Seven of 10 Wells players to appear in the game scored at least one point. Wells is back in action Saturday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. at Utica College.
Nazareth led for most of the first quarter, but Wells closed the first with a 7-3 run that included a 3-pointer by Yanna Ososkalo, a basket in the paint from Kamarie Maturine, and a buzzer-beating putback by Shelby Medovich.
The Golden Flyers outscored Wells 42-17 over the second and third quarters to pull away.
Medovich led Wells with seven points, Ososkalo added six, and Maturine had five. Jordan Jacobs, Julia Smith, and Carley Ryan each scored four.
Maturine led Wells with eight rebounds. Carley Ryan had three steals.
