The Wells College women's basketball team lost 69-33 against Washington and Lee on Thursday, Dec. 21 at the Daytona Beach Shootout in Daytona Beach, Fla. The game was played at Moore Gymnasium at Bethune-Cookman University.
The Generals started quickly and outscored Wells 25-6 in the first quarter. Washington and Lee led 39-13 at halftime. The second half was more closely played as Washington and Lee outscored Wells by 10 points over the final 20 minutes. Washington and Lee had a 37-25 rebounding advantage in the game.
Carley Ryan scored eight points and Shelby Medovich had seven points for the Express. Kamarie Maturine led Wells with seven rebounds. Miranda Mingen had two steals, and Yanna Ososkalo had three assists.
Wells is 2-9 on the season and Washington and Lee improved to 7-3.
The Express returns to action in the New Year with a Jan. 10 home game at 3 p.m. against Cazenovia College.
