The Wells College women's basketball team played its first of two games at the Daytona Beach Shootout in Daytona Beach, Fla. and lost by a 72-24 score to Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday, Dec. 20. The game was played at Moore Gymnasium at Bethune-Cookman University.
The WPI Engineers ran out to a 45-15 lead at halftime and held Wells to nine points in the second half.
Yanna Ososkalo led Wells with 10 points. She made two 3-pointers in the game. Kamarie Maturine had a team-best five rebounds for the Express. Ososkalo had three steals and Shelby Medovich had three assists.
Wells is 2-8 overall. WPI improved to 6-2.
Wells will play again Thursday, Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. against Washington and Lee.
