The Wells College women's basketball team moved back over .500 in conference play with a 63-34 win against Penn College on Thursday, Feb. 8 at the Schwartz Athletic Center. Three players scored in double figures for the Express.
Wells limited Penn College to just eight points in the second half, while scoring 26 second-half points of its own. Penn College led 18-15 after the first quarter as the Wildcats made three shots from behind the 3-point line.
The Express outscored Penn College 22-8 in the second quarter and didn't trail again.
Carley Ryan scored 17 for Wells and Shelby Medovich added 16. Kamarie Maturine had 14 points and 18 rebounds. Wells had a 63-33 rebounding advantage in the game, which included 28 offensive boards.
Jordan Jacobs had six points, eight rebounds, three blocked shots, and four steals.
Wells improved to 8-14 overall and 7-6 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. The Express maintained its hold of a fourth place tie in the NEAC North Division with Cazenovia. Each team has three regular-season games remaining. The top four teams in each division qualify for the NEAC playoffs.
The Express will play Saturday, Feb. 10 at home against Morrisville State College at 3 p.m. Prior to the game, Wells seniors Kamarie Maturine, Yanna Ososkalo, and Dallia Rorick will be recognized in a Senior Day ceremony.
