Houghton Pulls Away In Second Half Against Women's Basketball

The Wells College women's basketball team was back in action Wednesday, Nov. 28 with a road game at Houghton College and the host Highlanders won 73-32.

It was another game where the first quarter did not go in Wells' favor. Houghton jumped out to an 11-0 lead over the first seven minutes and never trailed in the contest. Wells trailed 14-5 at the end of the first quarter.

Wells trailed by 16 with three minutes left in the second quarter before Wells went on an 8-2 run that included a 3-pointer from Carley Ryan, a foul shot from Shelby Medovich, and a pair of baskets in the paint from Diamonne Harris.

Houghton outscored Wells 43-14 in the second half.

Diamonne Harris led Wells with 15 points. Carley Ryan had seven points and three assists. Jordan Jacobs had three blocked shots. Kaleigh Spencer was the leading rebounder for the Express with six boards.

Wells will play Friday night at Elmira College and is home Saturday, Dec. 1 for a North Eastern Athletic Conference game against SUNY Cobleskill at 1 p.m.
