The Wells College women's basketball team went on a decisive run to close the fourth quarter and rally for a 60-56 victory at SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Wells held Cobleskill to two points over the final seven minutes of the game. The Express closed the game with an 11-2 run after trailing 54-49. The Express trailed by three when Shelby Medovich knocked down a foul shot and then Jordan Jacobs made a jumper to tie the score 56-56. The go-ahead basket was a fast-break layup by Carley Ryan, and Ryan added a pair of foul shots to close the scoring.
Wells outscored Cobleskill 14-6 in the second quarter and the Express led 31-27 at halftime.
Kamarie Maturine was the leading scorer for Wells with 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Ryan scored 15 points. Shelby Medovich added eight points and nine rebounds.
It was the final game of the season for both teams. Wells finished with a 9-16 overall record and 8-8 record in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Cobleskill went 11-14 with a 5-11 conference record.
