Ashida Cooper Earns NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week

Wells College women's basketball senior guard Ashida Cooper was selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 19, 2017.

Cooper capped her Wells career with another productive week and hit a major milestone in leading the Express to two wins in three games. During Friday's victory over the College of Saint Elizabeth, Cooper became the third player in Wells College history to reach the 1,000 career points milestone. She achieved the feat in just two seasons of play.

Over the week, Cooper averaged 27.3 points per game. She finished the week with 82 points and 28 rebounds, shooting 50 percent from the field and 91.7 percent from the free-throw line. Cooper added 17 assists, 10 steals and four blocks to round out an outstanding final week of the regular season.

It is the first time that Cooper has earned NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week recognition in her career. She was a first-team all-conference selection as a junior in the 2015-16 season.
