Men's Basketball Stymied By SUNY Canton, 81-62

AURORA, N.Y. – Senior Jordan Jean (Englewood, N.J.) posted 17 points in his team's 81-62 loss to SUNY Canton Saturday afternoon at the Farenthold Athletic Wing. Wells drops to 1-10 overall on the year following the non-conference loss while SUNY Canton collects their seventh-straight victory, improving to 8-2 on the season.

Jean also hauled in a team-best eight rebounds. Classmate Shakeel Simmons (Brentwood, N.Y.) was the remaining Wells player to crack double-digit points with 12. Senior Joe Walton (Ocala, Fla.) assisted a team-leading four baskets while Jean and Simmons each tied for the team lead in takeaways with two.

After winning the tip, Walton carried the ball up the court and laid it up and in for a 2-0 lead, his team's only advantage on the afternoon. The Kangaroos immediately answered with eight-straight points to capture an 8-2 lead. The Express would tie the game twice but would not see another lead throughout the game as SUNY Canton shot a blistering 15-for-34 (44.1%) in the opening stanza.

Leading 41-30 at the half, the Kangaroos continued to pour it on in the final 20 minutes, converting at a 60% rate (18-for-30) from the floor while Wells cooled off to the tune of an 11-for-31 performance (35.5%).
