Women’s Lacrosse Team Concludes Home Regular Season Play

The Wells College women's lacrosse team concluded its regular season home games after hosting SUNY Morrisville on Wednesday, April 14.

The team honored its senior captain Mollie Walts (Cortland, N.Y.) prior to the contest for her years of service to the team as a defender, as well as her contributions to Wells College and its athletics department.

After trailing by four goals, Wells' Clara Lima (Hastings Hudson, N.Y.) got the Express on the board for the team's only goal of the afternoon. The Mustangs' smothering defense only allowed seven Wells shots with three coming from Kayla Rowell (Cicero, N.Y.), a pair from Lima, and single shots from Mackenzie Powers (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Isabella Ciancio (Clinton, N.Y.).

Wells lost the draw control battle by an 11-9 margin with Lima getting nearly half the team's draw controls with four. The Express finished with five caused turnovers with Lima leading the way with a pair, and single caused turnovers from Walts, Lydia Thomas (Colton, N.Y.), Ciancio and Walts.

The Express finished with 15 groundballs on the day with a pair each coming from Thomas, Powers, Ciancio and Walts, while Lima led the team in groundballs with three.

Lauren Spiegel (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) made 15 saves from 32 shots.

The women's lacrosse team wraps up its regular season this weekend at Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, April 17.
