Women's Lacrosse Drops Contest at Medaille

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senior Amber Jordan (Auburn, N.Y.) scored a team-leading two goals for the Wells College women's lacrosse team in its 11-5 loss to host Medaille College on Saturday. With the loss, the Express dip to 2-8 overall and to 2-3 within the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Medaille improves to 7-3 overall and to 4-1 in the conference. 

In addition to Jordan's two goals, senior Andrea Gould (Fulton, N.Y.) added a goal and an assist while classmate Lexie Roberson (Lewisville, N.C.) joined junior Jessica Burbank (Stamford, Conn.) with a goal. Freshman Julia Smith (Guilderland, N.Y.) added an assist for the Express in the tilt. 

Despite playing down one player throughout the entire contest, Wells possessed a 2-1 lead after Jordan struck twice to create the visitors lead with only 10:31 expired in the contest. Medaille added two quick goals before Roberson scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at three with 3:18 remaining in the first half. 

Down by a 4-3 halftime margin, a Burbank free position goal only 2:21 into the second half tied the game at four aside. Mackenzie Berger, however, scored three-straight goals for the Mavericks to create a game-high three goal lead that the hosts would not relinquish. 

In total, Medaille outshot Wells by a 29-to-17 margin and won 12 of the game's 18 draw controls. The Express committed 22 turnovers while the Mavericks made only 16 miscues in the 60 minute affair. 

Wells goalkeeper Quinn Doubet (Virgil, N.Y.) made six saves in the loss. Alea Wade earned the goalkeeping victory for Medaille, turning away eight of 13 shots that she faced. 

The Express return to action Sunday, Apr. 17 as it faces-off against SUNY Poly on the road at 12 p.m.
