The Wells College women's lacrosse team lost by a 21-7 score at first-place Morrisville State College on Sunday, April 8. Wells has played seven of its first eight games on the road this year.
Mackenzie Maloney scored five goals for Wells. Julia Smith scored on a free-position shot and Renee Bartosz scored the other Wells goal, assisted by Maloney. Bartosz also had two assists.
Wells trailed in the first half, but used a span of three-straight goals to close to within 5-4. Morrisville went on to lead 12-5 at halftime and outscored the Express 9-2 in the second half.
Maloney had four draw controls and Smith had two for Wells. Maloney, Smith, and Miranda Mingen each had two caused turnovers. Anna Bozeat made 14 saves. Jessica Burbank led Wells with three ground balls.
Morrisville is 7-3 overall and 4-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Wells is 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
The Express will play at Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, April 15 before closing the year with five straight home games.
