MARCY, N.Y. – Senior Andrea Gould (Fulton, N.Y.) of the Wells College women's lacrosse team scored her team's lone goal in Sunday's 17-1 loss to SUNY Poly. Wells falls to 2-9 overall and to 2-4 within North Eastern Athletic Conference play. The Wildcats improve to 9-1 on the year while remaining perfect in six conference matches.
Gould's unassisted goal came with 12:55 remaining in regulation time, snapping a stretch of 15-straight SUNY Poly goals. The Wildcats would score twice more en route to a 17-1 victory. In total, the Wildcats outshot the shorthanded Express by a 32-to-7 margin and held advantages in ground balls (15-to-10), draw controls (13-to-6) and successful clearance attempts (11-to-8).
Wells goalkeeper Quinn Doubet (Virgil, N.Y.) made seven saves on 24 total shots. Doubet also recorded four caused turnovers, a career-high mark. SUNY Poly's Megan Will allowed only one goal while making two second-half saves against Wells shooters.
The Express will host the Wildcats from Cazenovia College this Wednesday, Apr. 20 in Aurora.
