Wells College women's lacrosse opened their season on Tuesday with a nonconference match at SUNY Poly in Utica, NY.
The Express was coming off a 2022 campaign with a 3-11 record. They returned Clara Lima, Lauren Spiegel, Sabrina He, Scarlett Lonsky, Grace Kahl, Lydia Thomas, Julia Barnwell, and Shelby Courtney.
This match-up started with some adversity for the Express when they found themselves down 5-0 after one prior of play. In the first half, the Express was plagued a bit by penalties with two yellow cards in the first, one yellow card in the second, and one green card in the second. At the half, Wells trailed 10-0. In the third quarter, off a free position shot, Clara Lima would score the first goal of the season for Wells College. Lima would score once again in the fourth (unassisted) but the Express would fall in this one 15-2.
Women's lacrosse will host MCLA on Thursday for their home opener at 4 PM.
