Late Goal Propels Women's Lacrosse Past Lancaster Bible, 8-7

LANCASTER, Pa. – For the second time this season, the Wells College women's lacrosse team scored the game-winning goal in the final minute of play as the Express posted an 8-7 victory over the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College Friday afternoon. With the victory, the Express match their 2012 win total only six games into the season – Wells sports an overall record of 3-3 while collecting their first North Eastern Athletic Conference victory of the season. Lancaster Bible falls to 1-7 overall and to 0-1 against league opponents.

Trailing by a 7-6 margin following a Chargers goal with 9:41 remaining in the second half, sophomore Savannah Tucker (Rochester, N.Y.) scored the game-tying goal with four minutes remaining and then struck for the go-ahead goal with only 55 seconds remaining in the second half to lift Wells to an 8-7 victory. In the game, Tucker tied a career-high mark with five goals in the game – she last scored five goals in 60 minutes against the College of St. Elizabeth on Apr. 7, 2012.

Freshman Lexie Roberson (Winston-Salem, N.C.) scored two goals and added an assist for three points (2-1=3) while Marina Fargnoli (Apalachin, N.Y.) scored a free position goal within the game's first five minutes. At the half, the Express trailed by a 5-4 margin but outscored the hosts by a 4-2 margin in the second half for the victory.

For Lancaster Bible, Whitney Heise scored six of her team's seven goals and added an assist to Ky-Leigh Hallman's first half goal.

Express goalkeeper Chelsea Dann (Flagstaff, Ariz.) made seven second half saves en route to an eight save performance for her third victory of the season. For Lancaster Bible, Cheyenne Benson allowed eight goals on 11 shots to draw the loss.

The Express improve to 4-0 all-time against Lancaster Bible with their previous victory, a 21-14 decision, occurring on Mar. 28, 2012.
