Women’s Lacrosse Team Notches First Win in Carolina

The Wells College women's lacrosse team scored the first four goals of its contest against Salem College before staking an 11-1 halftime lead and cruising to an 18-3 victory on Wednesday, March 11 in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Savanah Connors led the team in four categories that included five goals and six points from 13 shot-attempts with eight finding the net. Erin Persons led the team in assists with a pair, while Kaylin Barbour finished with six saves from nine shots in net.

The Express dominated in shots on goal, shot-attempts and groundballs. Wells had a 20-shot edge at 29-9 shots on net after attempting 34 to the opposition's 12. Wells also finished with a half-dozen more groundballs after a 24-18 final count.

Finishing with multiple-goals for Wells was Kari Jensen with four, Jayla Speers with three and Chloe Marcus with a pair. Single tallies belonged to Aarika Mansfield, Mackenzie Powers and Alisa Hines.

In addition to Persons' pair of assists, other helpers went to Connors, Marcus, Jensen and Powers.

The women's lacrosse team remains on the road with their next game at Sweet Briar on Friday, March 13 with a 12 p.m. start.
