The Wells College women's lacrosse team played its first home game of the 2019 season and lost 17-6 to Hartwick on Monday, March 25 at the Wells Turf Field.
Wells pulled within two goals and trailed 6-4 at halftime, but Hartwick closed the game on a 10-1 run to secure the victory.
Mackenzie Maloney factored on all six Wells goals with three goals and three assists. Miranda Mingen had a goal and an assist. Savanah Connors and Renee Bartosz also scored for Wells.
Wells goalkeeper Anna Bozeat made 17 saves, a season-high total for her, and also had two ground balls and two caused turnovers on intercepted passes around the crease. Julia Smith led Wells with three ground balls.
Hartwick is 4-3 on the season and Wells is 1-2. The Express is back in action Saturday at Cazenovia College, the first North Eastern Athletic Conference game of the season for the Express.
