Women's lacrosse continued their non-conference schedule this afternoon when they hosted the MCLA Trailblazers.
Wells College got the scoring started in this one with goals from Olivia Garcia (Lydia Thomas) and Julia Barnwell in the first five minutes. Clara Lima scored twice in the first quarter as well with one of them coming off a free-position shot. the Express and Trailblazers went back and forth in the first half playing to a 6-6 tie at halftime. In the third quarter, the Express were outscored by the Trailblazers 5-3 and found themselves down two heading into the final 15 minutes. This lead would hold, and the Express were down 14-2 with only 6 minutes left to play. This is where Clara Lima and Lydia Thomas took over for the Express. They combined for four goals in the final 6 minutes. The final game-winning goal came from Clara Lima with only 2 minutes remaining that gave the Express their second win of the season and first home win! Lydia Thomas had nine points today followed by Clara Lima with 7.
Women's lacrosse will hit the road this weekend for two games against Mt Aloysius and Waynesburg.
