Wells College To Join The AMCC Starting 2023-24

Director of Athletics and Physical Education, Mike Lindberg is pleased to announce that Wells College will become the tenth full member of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) in 2023-24.

"The decision to accept Wells as a full member of the AMCC was an easy one for our presidents and chancellors," said commissioner Donna Ledwin. "As affiliate members in men's and women's swimming and diving and men's volleyball, they already have established relationships with a majority of our member institutions. They bring a menu of sports that work well with what we already sponsor as well as ones we have plans to grow. And they have a well-established leadership team that understands the Div. III philosophy and what that means in terms of educating the whole student. This is most certainly a mutually beneficial decision."

As full NCAA Division III members, the Express will be immediately eligible for all AMCC privileges when they begin their membership in Fall 2023.

"On behalf of Wells College Athletics, I would like to thank Commissioner Ledwin, the Presidents Council, and the Board of Athletic Directors of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference for approving our full membership application," stated Wells athletic director Michael Lindberg. "The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference has a storied 25-year history, founded on the principles of advancing the educational experience of our student-athletes in a way that is 'safe, equitable, respectful, rewarding, and balanced.' Wells College looks forward to actively contributing toward these principles and working collegially and in partnership with the staff and the membership."

"Wells College is honored to join the AMCC, which is one of the premier Division III athletic conferences in the country," said Wells President Jonathan Gibralter. "This move will be what is best for our students, our athletic staff and our college. I am enormously grateful that we have been accepted to be a full member of the AMCC beginning in the fall of 2023."

The Express will continue to compete in the United East for the 2022-23 season. The Fall seasons will begin Sept. 1st, do not forget to come out and support Wells College at all home games!
