Wells Women Sweep AMCC Weekly Lacrosse Honors

Wells Women's Lacrosse swept this week's AMCC weekly honors, With senior Lydia Thomas and first year Mariah Stephens taking home the women's lacrosse offensive and defensive player of the week awards. The Express, who are off to an explosive 5-0 start this season, have had many amazing contributions from both experienced seniors and first year phenoms alike, with this week's award winners showcasing the unique blend of styles that Wells women's lacrosse has to offer. 

Lydia Thomas was an offensive dynamo this week for the Express who also picked up two more victories and sustained their undefeated start to the season. In those two matchups, Thomas scored nine goals and tallied one assist, picking up 10 points in the two wins. She was also the definition of consistency and efficiency, as she scored five & four goals in the two games and also had a shot percentage of 83.3 in the first game against Purchase. She picked up eight ground balls, creating more opportunities to score for an Express squad that racked up 30 goals in the last two matchups. 

Mariah Stephens also had an excellent week for the Express. She directly contributed to the 2 victories by wreaking havoc on opposing offenses, causing four turnovers during the week. She also made sure to get the ladies lots of valuable possessions by scooping up 11 ground balls. In addition to her spectacular defense, she also tallied a goal for Wells in their victory over Purchase. The team has only allowed 14 goals in their first 5 games. 

Join Lydia and Mariah as they play their home opener this Friday, March 22nd against Waynesburg up at the Wells College Turf Complex! The Express will take on another tough challenger in the Yellow Jackets. Come support the ladies as they look to sustain their unbeaten start!
