Express Athletes of the Week for April 8 - 15

Express Athletes of the Week for April 8 - 15

Lydia Thomas and Jacobi James have been selected as the Express Athletes of the Week for the week of April 8th - April 15th.

Lydia Thomas was selected in lieu of her pair of spectacular outings for a still-undefeated Express women's lacrosse team this past week.

Thomas has had a great year in what is to be her final season donning an Express uniform. The spectacular senior is all over the AMCC leaderboards, ranking 3rd in the conference for both goals and assists, with 33 and 18 respectively. The Colton, NY native has also inspired her teammates with great veteran leadership, elevating an outstanding offense that ranks 4th in Division III for goals per game with 18.18.

This past week, Thomas powered a nationally-ranked Express offense in their two huge victories over Hilbert and La Roche. Thomas was the main force behind a Wells offensive unit that scored 46 goals over their two games last week. Thomas had 10 of those goals, contributing to her team's success while also spending the majority of the year being featured heavily in the AMCC leaderboards. Thomas recorded five assists to end the week with 15 total points. Thomas was a key contributor all over the field, also logging eight ground balls and six draw controls.

Thomas and the Express are on a tough road trip this week, matching up with Bryn Athyn, Hilbert, and Mount Aloysius as they look to remain unbeaten entering the final stretch of the regular season.

Jacobi James got the nod because of yet another week of superior offensive efficiency during the Express' 3 outings.

James has been the definition of consistent, sporting a .424 cumulative average to go along with a team-high 26 RBI and 3 Home Runs. James has put together a great campaign, notching 46 total run contributions in what is only his 2nd season in Aurora.

James also kept up a streak of amazing offensive production this past week in a major way, putting up another stellar display of offensive prowess. In 3 games, James continued to raise his already outstanding average, batting .455 in the matchups and also recording a .500 average in 2 conference games. On top of the efficient hitting performances, James also showcased the power, launching a double and yet another home run. James recorded 2 RBI and scored 3 runs during the week, another dominant offensive stretch for the sophomore.

James and the Wells baseball squad are home this week for two important AMCC doubleheaders with Alfred State and La Roche on Tuesday and Saturday respectively.
