Lomonaco, Carfi Named AMCC Players of the Week as Women's Lacrosse Sweeps Weekly Awards Again
Another week, another sweep of the AMCC Weekly Honors for Wells Women's Lacrosse.
Following up Lydia Thomas and Mariah Stephens' award winning performances that garned them AMCC Player of the Week honors, first year Logan Lomonaco and junior Lexi Carfi had their own week of dominance and secured the 3rd and 4th straight AMCC Player of the Week Awards in what was a repeat of last week, with the Express sweeping yet another set of AMCC Women's Lacrosse Honors.
The awards are piling up for Express women's lacrosse this year, with the team securing 5 AMCC Player of the Week Awards through the first couple weeks of the season.
For first year Logan Lomonaco, this marks her 2nd AMCC Offensive Player of the Week Honor. The Binghamton native had another week with impressive offensive numbers for the undefeated Express who cruised to a 22-0 win over Waynesburg, improving their record to 6-0 and securing the best start to a season in Wells women's lacrosse history. Lomonaco, just one of many first year players for the Express, found the cage six more times in the win over the Yellow Jackets, also procuring two assists in the victory.
Junior Lexi Carfi also attained her first AMCC Defensive Player of the Week Honor for her tough defensive performance this past week. The defender from nearby Liverpool had an excellent week for an Express defensive squad that recorded a shutout in their only action last week vs Waynesburg. She flew around on defense, causing two turnovers and securing three ground balls for Wells in a complete performance that saw them win 22-0 and cruise to a 6-0 start to the season, the best start in Wells women's lacrosse history. Carfi was at the core of the huge defensive effort, leading a staunch Express unit that caused 31 turnovers, and only allowed eight shots in the shutout vs the Yellow Jackets.
Join Lexi and Logan this week as they look to stave off more challengers in their pursuit to keep the Express' win streak going! You can catch them at the Turf on Wednesday and Saturday, with the latter day being the first day of AMCC Conference play. The Express will welcome the pre-season #1 team in the conference, Mount Aloysius, for a weekend showdown.
