Express Women's Lacrosse Sweeps AMCC Weekly Awards for 4th Consecutive Week

It's been a month of pure dominance for Wells College women's lacrosse.

In addition to their unbeaten 9-0 start to the season, the Express have also swept the AMCC Player of the Week honors for the 4th-straight week, marking the 7th and 8th awards in a row for the conference leaders. The Wells women have also seen 7 different players take home an AMCC Player of the Week title, an enormous statistic that showcases just how balanced and dangerous the team is as a whole. The Express still lead the nation in many statistical categories, and are 1 of only 5 remaining unbeaten teams in all of Division III women's lacrosse.

This week, it was another pair of talented first years that added onto an already long list of accolades won by the Express women's lacrosse team so far this season. Hannah Lamont and Mariah Stephens secured the AMCC Offensive & Defensive Player of the Week repectively, as they both shined in the Express' powerful win over a tough La Roche team this past Saturday.

For Stephens, this is her second AMCC Defensive Player of the Week nod, after she received the honor earlier in the season for her amazing play during the week of March 11th - 18th.

The Mission Viejo, CA native had an excellent defensive performance against the Redhawks on Saturday as the Express moved to 9-0 and continued their spotless start to the season. Stephens was a disruptor all day, slowing down numerous Redhawk attackers and causing two turnovers. She also scooped up four ground balls and even produced an all-important goal as the Express pulled away for a 17-11 victory.

Lamont's title was her first AMCC Player of the Week win this season. The first year from Albany had a standout week, nabbing seven goals and two assists in the Express' win. Along with her scoring output, she also secured 15 draw controls, shooting her total on the year to 93, and breaking the single season Wells record for draw controls (78) with at least six games left to play in the 2024 season. Lamont ranks fifth in all of Division III Women's Lacrosse for draw controls per game with 10.33 and has been the central pillar of an Express draw unit that places seventh in DIII for draw controls per game with 18.00. That same Express draw unit also currently holds the #1 draw control win percentage in DIII, sporting a 74.7% draw win rate.

Join Stephens and Lamont as they continue AMCC play this week with 2 huge home matchups. The Express will welcome Hilbert on Tuesday before squaring off against La Roche on Saturday, with the latter game being this year's Senior Day matchup.
