Express Athletes of the Week for April 15 - 21

Express Athletes of the Week for April 15 - 21

Lydia Thomas and Cameron Hayman have been named as the Express Athletes of the Week for the week of April 15 - 21.

Lydia Thomas achieved the honor for the second week in a row due to her exemplary leadership and outrageous offensive numbers which helped her earn back-to-back AMCC Offensive Player of the Week wins.

Thomas had yet another emphatic week for an Express team that flew past Hilbert and Mount Aloysius en-route to securing a 6-0 conference record and the 2024 AMCC Regular Season Title. During the 3-game week, Thomas kept up her streak of offensive dominance, scoring 9 goals and recording 5 assists while also nabbing 13 ground balls to pair with 5 draw controls. In the 2 title-clinching performances vs the Hawks and Mounties, Thomas found the cage for 7 scores and 5 assists to go along with some excellent marks in the field as she tallied 8 ground balls and 3 draw controls.

Thomas' AMCC Player of the Week nod marks her second-straight week garnering the award. Thomas has won 3 AMCC Player of the Week awards in this season alone, a remarkable display as one of the most lethal offensive talents in the conference.

Thomas and the Express locked up the #1 seed in the AMCC tournament and will host Hilbert in the first round this coming Saturday.

Cameron Hayman locked up the award because of his stellar outings both on the mound and also at the plate for the Express during their 2 gigantic series against Alfred State and La Roche.

Hayman was a major force during the week, coming in to record 2 massive saves that shut the door on the Pioneers and Redhawks. In those 2 game-sealing appearances, Hayman allowed 0 runs and only 2 hits by the opposition, torching both lineups and showing all parties involved exactly why he's the Express' closer. In game 2 vs La Roche, Hayman also entered the lineup and put on a clinic at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a run scored. Near the end of the La Roche game, Hayman warmed up in the bullpen before heading back to the dugout for his final plate appearance of the day, a spot in which he notched a clutch hit. Immediately after providing some much needed offense for the Express, Hayman headed to the mound and proceeded to eliminate all chances of a Redhawk comeback.

Hayman's .600 average and 0 ERA are ridiculous numbers that display how much of a 2-way star he is for the Express.

Hayman and the Wells baseball squad have 2 away AMCC series against PSU Behrend and PSU Altoona. Those series' take place on Thursday and Sunday. The Express also have a 2-game set against Bryant and Stratton of Syracuse at home on Friday.
