Express Athletes of the Week March 11-17
Lydia Thomas and Max Odum have been selected as the Express Athletes of the Week for March 11-17. Both Thomas and Odum also received AMCC Player of the Week honors in their seperate sports, and have been the driving forces behind their teams' hot starts to the 2024 season.
Lydia Thomas was selected in lieu of her amazing offensive production which led her to achieving the AMCC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week Award.
Lydia was on an absolute tear this past week, scoring 9 goals and dishing out an assist during two landslide Express victories over SUNY Purchase and East Mennonite. The superstar senior was everywhere, providing excellent offense and also frustrating opposing defenses to the tune of 8 ground ball recoveries and 3 caused turnovers. Lydia currently ranks 2nd in the conference for goals with 16 and 2nd for assists with 7. The senior captain has 23 points on the season, and has displayed excellent leadership during the Express' 5-0 start to the 2024 season. A native of Colton, NY, Lydia will look to sustain the spark that's led the Express women's lacrosse team to their flawless introduction in 2024.
Max Odum was selected for his dominant spring break success that earned him the AMCC Baseball Player of the Week Award.
Max was the architect of an Express offense that recorded double-digit runs in 3 out of the 6 games they played this past week. He racked up 10 hits while down at the Ripken Experience, slugging 11 RBI and scoring 10 runs, good for 21 run contributions (the Express scored 54 total runs in these games). He also swiped 2 bags to add to his impressive base-stealing numbers this season, ranking 4th in the AMCC with 8. His 17 total RBI are good for 3rd in the conference, only 1 run behind the top spot. The speedster from Elmira will look to continue a string of Express victories that extends over their past 4 games.
