Men's Volleyball All-Decade Team

The Wells College 2020 All-Decade Team in men's volleyball comprises student-athletes that participated during the spring seasons between 2012-20. The team consists of 10 selections with its composition based on a compilation of conference top-10 finishes and conference weekly honors with all multiple all-conference season selections receiving automatic placement.*

The 2020 All-Decade team includes (alphabetically): Alex Battey (2014-15), C.J. Bayly (2012-14), John Farruggia (2013-16), Derek Nipps (2013-14, 2016), Caden O'Loughlin (2017-20), Robert Patzer (2018-20), Brannon Perdicho (2013-16), J.J. Podczasy (2013-16), Ryan Turner (2016-19) and Josh Undari (2017-20).

Three members of the men's volleyball all-decade team competed last season and were in the team's inaugural 2019 NCAA Tournament appearance and include O'Loughlin, Patzer and Undari. The trio combined for 10 all-conference selections, 16 weekly player honors and 45 finishes in the conference's top-10.

O'Loughlin is a four-time all-conference selection, two-time Wells College male athlete of the year, nine-time player of the week with 20 finishes in the conference top-10 over four seasons. He finished in the conference top-10 five times in 2020 (kills, service aces, digs, hitting percentage, points), six times in 2019 (kills, hitting percentage, service aces, digs, blocks, points), five times in 2018 (kills, hitting percentage, service aces, digs, points) and four times in 2017 (kills, service aces, digs, points). In 2019, he topped the NEAC in four categories that included kills, digs, service aces and points. His four-year totals are 1,641 points, 1,398 kills, 853 digs, 152 service aces, 143 blocks, 111 assists and a hitting percentage of .248.

Patzer finished last season as the 2020 NEAC Player of the Year and was named all-region. He is a three-time all-NEAC selection and the 2018 NEAC Rookie of the Year. Patzer earned weekly conference player honors five times and has appeared in the conference's top-10 on 16 occasions over three seasons. He finished in the conference top-10 seven times in 2020 (kills, assists, service aces, digs, blocks, hitting percentage, points) and led the conference in three of those categories (kills, digs, points). He finished in the conference top-10 seven more times in 2019 (kills, hitting percentage, assists, service aces, digs, blocks, points), and two times in 2018 (kills, points). Patzer's three-year totals include 1,060.5 points, 879 kills, 509 digs, 205 assists, 137 blocks, 98 service aces and a hitting percentage of .237.

Undari is a three-time all-conference selection, two-time player of the week with nine finishes in the conference top-10 over four seasons. He was in the conference's top-10 in assists all four seasons and finished with 3,185 during that span. He finished in the conference top-10 in digs in three seasons (2020, 2019, 2018), and service aces in two seasons (2019, 2017). He led the NEAC in assists in 2019. His four-year totals in addition to assists are 648 digs, 622.5 points, 417 kills, 166 blocks, 113 service aces and a hitting percentage of .255.

Also part of the team that went to the 2019 Elite Eight from the men's volleyball all-decade team is Turner, who earned one all-NEAC selection and has appeared in the conference's top-10 on six occasions. He finished in the conference top-10 four times in 2019 (kills, hitting percentage, blocks, points) and once each in 2018 and 2017 in blocks. He led the NEAC in hitting percentage in 2019 and finished his career with a hitting percentage of .281 with 272 blocks.

Joining Patzer as the only other Wells men's volleyball player to receive a major conference award is Battey, who was the 2014 NEAC Rookie of the Year. He earned an all-conference nod the following season and finished in the conference top-10 twice in each of his two seasons in hitting percentage and blocks with a career hitting percentage of .244 and 130 career blocks.

Earning a pair of all-conference honors each are Farruggia and Nipps. Farruggia was named a weekly conference selection four times with nine appearances in the conference's top-10 over four seasons. He finished in the conference top-10 once in 2016 (digs), once in 2013 (service aces), twice in 2015 (digs, service aces) and five times in 2014 (kills, hitting percentage, service aces, digs, points). In 2014 he led the NEAC in service aces and finished with 120 over his career. He was shy of 1,000 points by 1.5 and added 797 kills, 677 digs and 134 blocks. Nipps was named a weekly conference selection three times with four appearances (all three seasons in assists and once in digs) in the conference's top-10 over three seasons. In 2014, he finished runner-up in the conference in assists and digs. He finished with 538 digs and 1,733 assists.

Perdicho joins O'Loughlin as the only two members of the all-decade team with four all-conference selections as well as a male athlete of the year honor. Perdicho earned seven weekly conference honors and finished in the conference's top-10 a total of 10 times over four seasons. He finished in the conference top-10 four times in 2018 (kills, hitting percentage, digs, points), four times in 2017 (kills, service aces, digs, points) and twice in 2016 (kills, points). In 2017, he led the NEAC in kills and points and finished his career with 1,307 kills, 1,452.5 points and 750 digs.

Rounding out the all-decade team are Podczasy and Bayly. Bayly is the lone selection that played on the team's inaugural season and earned one all-NEAC selection, five weekly honors and finished in the conference's top-10 three times. He finished in the conference top-10 twice in 2013 (assists, service aces) and once in 2014 when he led the conference in digs. He finished with 634 assists, 503 digs and 51 service aces over three seasons. Podczasy also earned one all-conference selection and appeared in the conference top-10 six times over four seasons. He finished in the conference top-10 three times in 2014 (kills, service aces, points) and three times in 2013 (kills, hitting percentage, points) with career totals of 669 points, 635 assists, 546 kills, 437 digs and 99 blocks.
