KEUKA ADVANCES WITH VICTORY OVER EXPRESS

(Harrisburg, Pa.) The Wells College women's lacrosse team trailed by as little as two in the second half to No. 1 seed Keuka College, but the Storm would pull away, outscoring the Express 5-1 in the half en route to a 10-3 victory in the quarterfinal round of the North Atlantic Conference West Division tournament held on Saturday evening at Penn Yan Academy in Penn Yan, N.Y. No. 4 seed Wells finishes the season at 6-9 (4-3 NACW) while the Storm improve to 10-1 (7-0 NACW).
 
Stefanie Miller scored one goal and tallied one assist while teammates Madeline Bass and Sarah Allen each scored one goal to pace the Express. Goalie Liz Barclay finished with 14 saves in the loss.
 
Brandy Shafer led the Storm with a total of four points (3 g, 1 a) while Laura Dougherty finished with three assists and one goal for a total of four points. Molly Hogan earned the victory in net for the Storm finishing with nine saves.
 
Shafer opened the scoring for the Storm, finding the back of the net on a feed from Dougherty for 1-0 lead. Allen tied the game at one, scoring less than a minute later on a pass from Miller. The Storm offense went on a roll mid-way through the first half, scoring four straight goals to open up a 5-1 lead. An unassisted goal by Bass at 6:06 brought the game to its halftime score of 5-2.
 
Miller made things interesting in the second, opening with an unassisted goal and trimming the lead to two (5-3).  However, Keuka responded with a goal 29-seconds later and never looked back, holding the Express scoreless the rest of the half while their offense put up five straight goals to seal the quarterfinal round victory.
