WILDCATS RALLY PAST EXPRESS

(Morrisville, N.Y.)─  The Wells College women's lacrosse team had a thee goal second half lead disappear as the Cazenovia College Wildcats battled back with four straight goals to sink the Express 10-9 in North Atlantic Conference West Division action on Sunday afternoon in Morrisville, N.Y. The loss drops the Express to 6-6 (4-2 NACW) while the Wildcats improve to 7-5 (5-1 NACW).
 
Courtney Grosser (Penfield, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) led the Express with four goals. Sarah Allen (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North) added two goals and two assists while Stefanie Miller (Barton, N.Y./Tioga Central) and Madeline Bass (Lemon Grove, Calif./Helix) each tallied one goal and one assist. Sherri Stanton (Greene, N.Y./Cayuga C.C.) netted one goal to round out the scoring for the Express. Liz Barclay (Laporte, Pa./Lincoln Acad.) suffered the loss in net finishing with 14 saves.
 
Christy Foster paced the Wildcats with four goals. Nicole Kimmel totaled five points on two goals and three assist while teammate Cassandra Grazeley netted two goals. Christina Marra earned the win in net finishing with six saves.
 
Stanton gave the Express their first lead of the game, scoring on an unassisted goal less than two minutes into the game. The Wildcats knotted things up (1-1) on a goal by Kimmel but the Express responded with goals from Grosser and Allen to extend their lead to 3-1. Wells continued to roll in the first half, increasing their lead to three (5-2) on scores by Bass and Allen. The Wildcats managed to pull back to within two, netting two goals to close the half down 6-4.
 
Grosser led the Express in the second half, scoring three goals as Wells again extended their lead to three (9-6) with 17 minutes left to play. However, the Wildcats defense stepped up, holding the Express scoreless the rest of the way while their offense netted four straight goals to take a 10-9 lead they would never relinquish.

The Express return to action next on April 21 when they take on conference leading Keuka College (6-0 NACW) at 4 p.m. in Aurora.
