Women’s Tennis All-Decade Team

The Wells College 2020 All-Decade Team in women's tennis comprises student-athletes that participated during the past 10 seasons between 2008-17. The team consists of 10 selections with all-conference selections of three or more receiving automatic placement.*

The 2020 All-Decade team includes (alphabetically): Brooke Benedetto (2013-16), Caitlyn Copfer (2010-13), Kate Ellis (2012), Taryn Heath (2013-15), Kevisha Hunt (2013-16), Kamarie Maturine (2015-17), Kelly Pietruch (2010-13), Ayumi Takeuchi (2013), Brittany Vanno (2011-14) and Kate Wells (2015-17).

The top-two members of the women's tennis team with the most all-conference selections were Benedetto and Copfer. Benedetto played four seasons and finished with a half-dozen conference accolades. The three-time most valuable player and former team captain captured first-team honors in singles play three times. In doubles play, she added all-conference recognition in first (2015), second (2014) and third (2013) teams in three successive seasons.  Copfer garnered five all-conference selections and took a team award in each of her four seasons. The former team captain earned the team's top rookie award in her first year before winning three successive Express awards. Like Benedetto, Copfer earned three all-conference singles awards all on the first team. In doubles play, Copfer earned first and third team honors for five all-conference nods overall.

Four all-decade team members earned four all-conference selections each and included Heath, Maturine, Vanno and Wells. Heath is the lone Express women's tennis player to take conference player-of-the year and first-team in first singles in 2015. She added a second-team honor in singles (2013) and also had a pair of doubles honors on the first and second teams, while being named the team's top rookie in 2013. Vanno became an assistant coach after her playing days ended that included a pair of second-team singles honors and second and third team honors in doubles. Maturine earned a pair of singles all-conference nods with the second and third teams and added a pair of third-team doubles honors as well, while also being named the team's top rookie in 2015. Kate Wells earned second and third team honors in singles play with a pair of third-team honors in doubles.

Rounding out the automatic selections with three all-conference awards are Hunt and Pietruch. Hunt took second and third team honors at singles to go with a second-team selection in doubles. Pietruch earned a second-team honor in singles to go with a pair of honors in doubles at first and third teams.

The remaining two selections were the only two players with a pair of first-team honors. Takeuchi only played one season but earned the conference top rookie award in 2013 with first-team honors in singles and doubles. Ellis also competed for one season in 2012 with first-team honors in singles and doubles. Ellis was the team's top rookie that season and Takeuchi won the team's most valuable award in her lone season.
