'On This Day' Women’s Soccer Team Win Streak Hits 6 with 40-Shot Barrage

'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Oct. 9, four years ago in 2016.

The Wells College women's soccer team kept up its momentum with a 7-0 win over the College of Saint Elizabeth on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at the Wells Turf Field. Wells has now won six matches in a row and stands at 9-3-0 overall and 6-2-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

The Express scored in the eighth minute on Emma Booth's 13th goal of the year, assisted by Mackenzie Maloney. Yanna Ososkalo doubled the lead less than two minutes later when she scored on a rebound in front of the Saint Elizabeth net.

Madison Beriman scored her third goal of the season to give Wells a 3-0 lead on an assist from Amber Welsh. Erin Persons and Mackenzie Maloney followed with first-half goals and the Express led 5-0 at halftime. Dallia Rorick assisted on the goal by Persons.

In the second half, Welsh scored her second goal of the season and Autumn McLain capped the scoring with her third goal of the year. Wells goalkeeper Quinn Doubet made one save in her first start of the year and earned her first win and shutout this season.
