'On This Day' Express Swim Teams Sweep Macomber Starting Block Classic

'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Nov. 19, eleven years ago in 2009.

Aurora, NY – Both the men's and women's swim team made it a clean sweep at the Donald Macomber Starting Block Classic, taking first place in both meets, defeating SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Delhi on Thursday night, Nov. 19, 2009, at Cobleskill.

The men's team took first place with 375 total points while SUNY Delhi took second with a score of 294 points with SUNY Cobleskill finishing third with a team score of 286.

The women's team took first with a total score of 477 points, SUNY Delhi took second with 290 points, while SUNY Cobleskill finished third with 253 points.

In men's action Drew Teter finished first in the in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.78 and the 500 Freestyle with a time of 5:49.83, while helping lead the 200 freestyle relay team to a first-place finish with a time of 1:43.46.

Current NEAC Women's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week Jackie Ross continued to lead the Express women with three first place individual finishes in the 100 freestyle (1:01.77), 200 freestyle (2:19.66), and 500 freestyle (6:14.32), while helping to lead the 200 freestyle relay team to a first-place finish with a time of 2:00.79.
