“Where Are They Now” – Courtney Pitcher

The "Where Are They Now" Wells College Athletics series puts a spotlight on the alumni and alumnae to give the Wells community an inside look at some of its many special student-athletes from years past. We would love to tell your story knowing that part of you journey began with us! Today's segment features Courtney Pitcher.

Courtney Pitcher was a member of the Wells College field hockey teams (2013-16) and graduated from Wells with a major in biology in 2017. On the field, Courtney was listed as a midfielder for all four of her seasons on the Wells field hockey team. Her junior and senior seasons brought back-to-back North Eastern Athletic Conference championships in 2015 and 2016. Courtney is currently concluding her equine medicine education in Blacksburg, Va.

In a brief question and answer segment with Courtney, we asked her to reflect on her time at Wells in looking back, while at the same time offering some advice to current and future Wells College student-athletes:

Reasons for choosing Wells to continue your athletic career: It felt like home from the day I stepped on campus. I'll never be able to describe the feeling I had after touring for my very first time.

Favorite memory of Wells College: Friendship. I would've never have made it through my four years without my team or my friends. Wells friends are always family and they stay with you forever. Cherish odd/even. Have fun and enjoy champagne breakfast. It'll fly by before you know it!

Advice you would give to current Wells College Student-Athletes: Don't take any game for granted. Not a single one. Even if it's a loss, don't ever regret it. You'll miss it every day once you are done. Be a teammate and a friend to each person on your team. Cherish those moments and don't forget to work hard for every minute you get on that field.
