'On This Day' Heterbring’s Pair of Helpers Completes Women’s Soccer Comeback

'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Sept. 24, fourteen years ago in 2006.

CHAMBERSBURG, PA. – The Wells College Express women's soccer team nipped Mary Baldwin, 2-1, on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, for the Express' second straight victory and fifth overall this season. The game was played at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa.

The Express, despite out-shooting the Fighting Squirrels 25-3 for the game and dominating both halves of play, found itself down, 1-0, at halftime thanks to a Leslie Hershey goal.

In the second half, Elizabeth Sloan finally tied the game in the 61st minute off of a feed from Amanda Heterbring. Heterbring also would set up Wells' second goal of the game just under seven minutes later when she found Laurissa Reitz for the game-winner.

Claire Petersen made just one save in earning her fifth win of the season in the Express net. Wells finished with a 25-3 edge in shots for the contest.
