Virtual ‘Hour of Power’ Scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10

The Wells College swimming teams will be one of many swimming teams across the country to host the 15th annual 'Leave it in the Pool Hour of Power Relays' to raise awareness and funds towards Sarcoma Cancer.

Any student that participates can also apply for the Ted Mullin Scholars Summer program if the program runs as planned in the summer of 2021.

Unlike other years, this year's event will be virtual for Wells participants and community supporters. The Wells swimming team is requesting anyone wishing to support this endeavor by re-tweeting, posting or liking any Wells athletics post with the hashtag #WellsHourofPower

With Wells currently in remote learning status, the men's and women's swimming teams will do a "dryland" version. It will be Tuesday, November 10th from 5 p.m. through 6 p.m.

Wells swimmers have set-up a virtual google meet, while others are encouraged to join either individually or with their respective Wells athletic teams. Others are asked to post their results on social media with the hashtag #WellsHourofPower

The dryland version will be 30 seconds on with 30 seconds rest for the entire 60 minutes. The exercises are sit-ups, burpees, squats and pushups. Each person can pick what exercise they prefer to do, as selecting the same exercises is not a requirement.

"I am asking my swimmers to keep a running tally of how many reps they do for each exercise. I will include that number in any social media posts, and hope others will do the same," Wells head swimming coach Trish George said.

Requests to be part of the Wells swimming group can be made through email at: pgeorge@wells.edu
