'On This Day' Ososkalo Leads Wells Over Phoenix with Hat Trick

'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Sept. 14, six years ago in 2014.
 
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Yanna Ososkalo recorded her first collegiate hat trick as the Wells College women's soccer team defeated Wilson College by a 6-1 score on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at Kris's Meadow. 
 
Ososkalo opened the scoring on the day in the sixth minute, tallying her second goal of the year.
 
Wells increased its lead to 2-0 after Karley Raczynski added her first goal of the year only 35 seconds later for the eventual game winner. Wilson countered only 20 minutes into the first half with a goal from Erin Stephan, Heather Hiltbrand scored a goal with only 5:04 left in the first half to create a 3-1 lead.
 
Only 8:46 into the second half, Ososkalo forced home a pass from Hiltbrand to extend the guest's advantage. To complete the hat trick, Ososkalo scored again at 71:15 to give her team a 5-1 lead. Shannon Blanford added further insurance for Wells, scoring her first goal of the year in the 86th minute. Blanford finished with a goal and an assist on the day, while Hiltbrand finished with a goal and pair of helpers.
 
Wells goalkeeper Quinn Doubet collected the victory despite allowing one goal to the Phoenix. Teniera Prioleau made six saves on 12 total shots that she faced, drawing the loss for Wilson.
