'On This Day' Munroe and Feudale Sweep Swimming Weekly Conference Honors

'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Dec. 3, eight years ago in 2012.

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Patrick Munroe and Hilary Feudale were selected as the North Eastern Athletic Conference's Swimming Student-Athletes of the Week, the conference office announced Monday, Dec. 3, 2012.

Feudale and the Express women's swimming team posted victories against SUNY Cobleskill (53-42) and Gallaudet (61-34), while the Express men's swimming team posted a tie against SUNY Cobleskill and a 65-34 victory against the Bison of Gallaudet University this past Saturday at the Fighting Tigers' triangular swim meet.

Individually, Feudale won the 50-yard freestyle (0:27.69) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:08.35) on the day, while also being a part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team that took first place with a time of 2:07.92, nearly 20 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. She has now captured first place in nine of her last 10 events, while placing second in the lone outlying event.

As a team, the Wells College women's swimming team boasts a 5-1 record in head-to-head meets. They have also won four head-to-head meets, including three against NEAC members. Individually, Feudale has collected her third-straight NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week award after receiving weekly recognition four times across her rookie season.

With the help of Munroe, the Express men's swimming team collected their first victory of the afternoon in the men's 200-yard medley relay as the Wells foursome completed their runs with a combined time of 1:55.93. Their time ranks ninth all-time in program history. Munroe once again found himself a winner in the men's 200-yard individual medley, recording a field-best time of 2:20.54 in the day's 10th event. He eclipsed his previous personal record time of 2:21.85 and posted the fourth-best result in program history.

Continuing his personal hot streak, Munroe captured first place in the men's 100-yard butterfly, turning in a time of 1:02.33. He once again bested his previous career high mark of 1:04.07 and posted the sixth-best time in program history. Munroe is the second men's swimmer from Wells to receive student-athlete of the week this season as teammate Matthew Sleezer received the award on Oct. 22, 2012.
