'On This Day' Jones Extends Women’s Soccer Team’s Win Streak to 4

'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Oct. 22, three years ago in 2017.

The Wells College women's soccer team ran its winning streak to four matches with a 1-0 victory at Gallaudet University on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017.

Sammie Jones scored the game-winning goal for Wells with 4:28 remaining in the second half.

It was the first-career goal for Jones, as she lifted a shot into the upper-right corner of the net on an assist from Madison Maloney. The breakthrough goal for Wells came after the Express built a 16-2 shots advantage in the first half and outshot Gallaudet 13-5 in the second half for  a 29-8 overall advantage.

Wells had nine corner kicks to just one for Gallaudet.

Express goalkeeper Quinn Doubet made four saves.
