'On This Day' Benedetto Wins Top Singles & Doubles Spots in Battle with Fredonia

'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Sept. 19, five years ago in 2015.

AURORA, N.Y. - The Wells College women's tennis team battled Fredonia St. on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at the Wells College courts.

The tandem of Brooke Benedetto and Kamarie Maturine picked up a 9-7 victory at No. 1 doubles and the duo of Kevisha Hunt and Yuna Furusawa put Wells up 2-1 after doubles play with a clutch 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.

The Blue Devils rallied by taking four of the six singles matches despite Benedetto adding an 8-6 win at No. 1 singles and Maturine following at No. 2 singles with a perfect 8-0 win.

It was the second 5-4 loss in as many contests for the Express with both matches against SUNY teams.
