'On This Day' Men’s Soccer Team Picks Up Second Road Win

'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Sept. 7, one year ago in 2019.

The Wells College men's soccer team started September with three road trips and finished the third on Sept. 7, 2019, at Hilbert College with a 2-1 victory. The Express took two of those three road games that included a 1-0 win at Alfred on Sept. 1.

Second-half goals from Justin Butler and Dawson Gerdon keyed the Wells victory.

Wells held a 16-4 advantage in shots in a scoreless opening half. Justin Butler scored an unassisted goal in the 52nd minute, his second goal of the season, to put Wells in front. In the 60th minute, Christian Garavito set up Dawson Gerdon for his first-career collegiate goal and Wells led 2-0.

Hilbert scored in the final minute of the second half to account for the final score.

Colton Jaquith started in goal for Wells and made two saves in the first half. Kingsley Ehling played the second half and had three saves with one goal allowed.
