'On This Day' Stone Leads Express with 6-Point Outing Over Paul Smith

'On This Day' is a Wells College Athletics feature series taking a look back on events that occurred on this day, Sept. 3, nine years ago in 2011.

PAUL SMITH, N.Y. – Paige Stone had a six-point outing as the junior was in on every goal scored by the Express as they defeated Paul Smith College by a 4-1 score on the road on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011.

Stone opened the scoring for Wells to tie the contest at 1-1 in the first half. Shannon Blanford took a Stone pass to put the Express in the lead for good prior to the end of the first half.

The second half saw Stone earn her second helper of the day on a goal from Kasia Jandura-Cessna, before closing out the scoring for Wells. Both Stone assists went to first-year players with Jandura-Cessna scoring her first career collegiate goal. Blanford assisted on Stone's first goal and Juli Vibbard assited on Stone's second tally.

Rachel Mattraw earned the win in net for the Express with three saves and the Express held the edge in corners by a 5-0 margin.

Savannah Tucker and Stone combined for 10 of Wells' 26 shots with Tucker registering a half-dozen.
